ABOUT US
The Koshy Lab started at the University of Arizona in 2012, with two goals: perform rigorous and novel science that will improve human health and have fun along the way. In the decade plus since its founding, we have had high school students, undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows come through the lab. These lab members worked together to determine that mouse and human neurons generate anti-Toxoplasma defenses, which might include neuron death; defined what areas of the brain Toxoplasma ends up in; discovered that Toxoplasma strain-specific manipulations of neurons influence parasite encystment; and identified an uncharacterized protein that appears to be important for stage conversion/encystment in vitro and in vivo.
